But that is moving away from the point.
The Photomic head actually has quite a low centre of gravity so the camera is (although heavy) really very handle-able - having not tried the prism, I can't comment on it.

I taught myself to type back in the heady days of winging a job with the Department Of Transport, using a keyboard that was programmed by punched cards . . .Herman Sheephousehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16187303211437458425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8635427135333425336.post-89303084309612996192015-08-24T23:23:22.578-08:002015-08-24T23:23:22.578-08:00I always thought that the Photomic head was a bit ...I always thought that the Photomic head was a bit top-heavy, although it dd look impressive and I did like having on-camera metering. It's always hard to re-capture the nostalgia of yesteryear. I didn't know they were expensive now. They were the cheaper alternative when I got mine. Perhaps if I'd kept it...
But you always think you're moving forwards at the time, don't you?

I've just had a thought: perhaps it was the way the head made the camera sit on the chest. Not at all like a twin-lens reflex. No names no problem on eBay. Or perhaps it just sat under my eyebrow more comfortably. All a long time ago. Can you imagine? I'd be writing this by hand, because only girls could type. And then the cleft stick to Scotland.DavidMnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8635427135333425336.post-51579508731985788812015-08-24T22:16:34.545-08:002015-08-24T22:16:34.545-08:00I agree David - the F3 is a very fine camera and I...I agree David - the F3 is a very fine camera and I am very fond of mine, but it rally doesn't have the heft of a plain old F. Your comment about the prism intrigues me, but they're so expensive and often found in a de-silvered state . . surely the time is right for retrofit F prisms at a reasonable price - cant be that difficult to manufacture . . It's a fine camera but it's not quite the F. At the other end of the Nikon scale, the EM was a lovely camera too. After the F3, Nikons seemed to change. No doubt they were more professional.DavidMnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8635427135333425336.post-78550133241703182272015-08-24T04:36:28.177-08:002015-08-24T04:36:28.177-08:00Tuff as a Brick Sheephouse Bruce . .

Omar's right about prices going up when people praise cameras on line.
