Are the shops open at 6AM though . . .
I like shopping with a camera . . you should get yourself a Trip . . honest, just a point and shoot film camera with a decent lens but as discreet/old fashioned as you like. Great fun too.
PHerman Sheephousehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16187303211437458425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8635427135333425336.post-43739992314018654692013-09-02T12:29:26.643-08:002013-09-02T12:29:26.643-08:00We'd probably be the only two geeks wielding T...We'd probably be the only two geeks wielding TLRs...
I tend to go there if I drop Cath off in town for shopping. It's nice and near hand so I can spend an hour snapping away before going back to pick her up. I hate shopping - unless there's a camera involved.Bruce Robbinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13888340033630703603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8635427135333425336.post-76226581261595154392013-09-01T22:53:12.847-08:002013-09-01T22:53:12.847-08:00Thanks Bruce - I do try an expel any excess air-sp...Thanks Bruce - I do try an expel any excess air-space from my plastic bottles when using chemicals (if I remember) . . but yeah - I've been economising like this for years. Fresh chemicals generally give you a tad more contrast. With the old stuff (I used it yesterday) the image starts to appear in around 45 seconds and comes to full development after about 180 seconds. This is quite consistent for me.
Yes as for the Uni - had no idea you were lurking around there . . it could be a 'Ah, a passionate photographer, I presume?' moment!
PHerman Sheephousehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16187303211437458425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8635427135333425336.post-52281379277339951852013-09-01T10:17:59.299-08:002013-09-01T10:17:59.299-08:00Phil,
I wouldn't bother about reader numbers....Phil,

I wouldn't bother about reader numbers. Blog readers are fickle creatures: as soon as you stop blogging they just disappear like sna' aff a dyke. Me and Omar love reading your posts so we'd love it if you keep going.

The amazing part of your post was the length of time you'd kept the made-up print dev! You must just about have been able to stand the print on edge in that soup. I'd be really interested to know what one of the prints would come out like using fresh materials. Would it be any different? Would it be as good? Maybe you've hit upon a better way of getting an old-school look in your prints without having to spend a fortune on weird lenses.

One of these days we're going to bump into each other wandering around the disused buildings on the uni campus.Bruce Robbinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13888340033630703603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8635427135333425336.post-61869554638326374692013-08-31T23:20:46.458-08:002013-08-31T23:20:46.458-08:00Hi Bruce - thanks for reading and the great commen...Hi Bruce - thanks for reading and the great comments - they are very much appreciated!
I was beginning to think no one was reading this - I've only had 6 views of it since posting it, whereas Part One is around 35 views . .
Anyway . . here goes . . a delve into me brain . .
1 Part Curmudgeonly Olde Git
1 Part lack of chemicals (now sorted)
2 Parts surprise at how nice some old prints I'd made on Finegrain looked (I had dismissed them when originally made.
1 Part to sort of prove the point that if you are motivated enough you can (almost) make do with anything you have lying around . . I suppose that'll be Nigel Slater's influence:

"You know, when you get to the end of the week and you happen to have 1 fresh Scuba Diver, 2 Gallons of Diesel and an Albatross in your fridge and you aren't quite sure what to do, but you know you want to make it something special?"

Hope that sort of explains things!
PHerman Sheephousehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16187303211437458425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8635427135333425336.post-53667395900095380582013-08-31T14:04:08.595-08:002013-08-31T14:04:08.595-08:00A great post, Phil, and a lesson to us all. I'm curious why you chose to use the materials and chemicals you did. Was is to prove a point or had you run out of fresh stuff as sometimes happens?

Bruce Robbinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13888340033630703603noreply@blogger.com
