Dreamtime

There was little one could say about the house that hadn't already been said.

Those that had known it in better times, would turn up now and again in passing or just on a lark.

"Damn shame."

"Such great parties."

"Do you remember when?"

They'd stand and listen to a silence broken only by the noisesome crows.

It would have been enough time in the old days to enjoy a spritzer and a greeting, or to be shown to one's room.

Leaning against a dusty car, lighting a Gitanes, smoking it to the bitter end, staring wistfully at the remnants of a dream, the smoke would draw deep into the mist of memory, where time and happiness and the sour taste of French tobacco were quite indistinguishable.

The crows were loud, but they had been loud ever before the house was built.
Flying in drifts of time, they knew no boundary above the soiled rooms and crashed cornice; windows their passage to air and freedom, blissfully unaware of the ghosts below.

Ah, the ghosts.
Like the crows they stuck around, awaiting a time when long winter and storm would finally grant them freedom.

By way of explanation, I hope you are well and yes it has been a while.
Have I been busy?
Of course, however there's more than that.
I have to say I feel I have come to an end in FB, in that, there's no point in me writing technical stuff any more, because people really don't give a monkeys and I am not exciting enough for general tastes.

So I am trying something different from a suggestion by Omar Özenir
A bit of prose with the pictures and see how it pans out..

All you need to know about this is that the camera was a Mamiya C330F with 80mm lens and ND filter; Tri-X at EI 200; HC 110 Dilution B; ancient Agfa MCC paper (hence the slight fog) given an initial exposure at Grade 2 and then Grade 4; selenium toned . . and that's it.

Comments, positive or not always welcome!

  1. I like the pictures and prose idea. I've thought about doing it myself, but every time I sit down and look at a photograph my mind goes blank. Maybe I'll have another go . . .

    1. Hi Marcus - nice to hear from you. Yeah, I feel like I've come to an end of "I do this and then I do that" simply because nobody seems interested.
It was surprisingly easy to fit some words - whether they're any good or not . . well . . . .!
      Take care.
